NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane baseball team, under the direction of head coach Jay Uhlman, released its 22 newcomers for the upcoming 2025 campaign on Tuesday.
"As we welcome our incoming class to campus this fall it fits right in with the regional diversity we have always attracted," Coach Uhlman explained. "Twenty-two incoming players from fifteen states and one Canadian. It features thirteen prep stars, a mix of eight four-year transfers to go along with our lone junior college transfer. I would like to publicly commend our recruiting team led by Anthony Izzio in concert with Justin Bridgman, Thomas Brittle, Curtis Akey, Frankie Niemann and Brennan Lambert for their tireless efforts in bringing this class to campus. We believe this class makes an immediate impact with the older group of transfers and provides a foundation for the future with the freshman group. In the recruiting landscape of the portal and NIL it takes a special and diligent effort to reinforce rosters. I am proud of our staff for the work they did to continue the upward trajectory of the program."

Rated as the seventh best outfielder and 36th best player in the state of New York by Perfect Game…Hit .419 with four home runs and 19 RBIs and 11 stolen bases for his travel ball team in 2021..Son of Maria and David Babaev...Has an older sister, Ariella…His future plans are to be a professional player and eventually get into the real estate business.

Drafted in 17th round with the 510th pick by the San Diego Padres in 2022…A member of the Canadian National Team in 2022 U-18 Baseball World Cup…Started his career and played the last two years at Rutgers University…Had a career .257 batting average in 75 games and 237 at bats along with 36 runs, 61 hits, 15 doubles, 28 RBIs, 32 walks, 12 HBPs and a .371 on-base percentage…As a sophomore hit .230 in 24 games with 10 runs scored, 14 hits, seven RBIs, four doubles, seven HBPs and a .360 on-base percentage…As a freshman totaled a .267 batting average with 26 runs, 47 hits, 11 doubles, a triple, 21 RBIs, a .341 slugging percentage and a .375 on-base percentage…Was the B1G Preseason Freshman of the Year by DI Baseball and Academic All B1G…Played for the Cape Code League's Championship Team (Bourne Braves) in 2022 where he was awarded the league's Daniel J. Grayson Smith (RHP), So., 6'2", 205, Rocky Face, GA/University of Florida
