How do I request disqualification in Occourts? ›

You may submit a request for disqualification through the eJuror online application at www.occourts.org/ejuror , no later than five days prior to the service date, or in writing.

Your OC Pay # is printed on the front of the violation information notice on the right of your citation number.

You do not need to appear in court unless you want to contest your citation or your appearance is required. However, you must resolve your case ON OR BEFORE the court date / due date listed at the bottom of your citation.

If you need to postpone (a continuance or an extension) your arraignment (the date at the bottom of your ticket or on your courtesy Violation Information Notice), you may do so by phone, online, or in person at any of the court locations in the Traffic Division.

Disqualification motions are typically filed against an attorney who has allegedly violated an applicable ethics rule. However, the violation of an ethics rule does not always lead to disqualification of counsel.

You can use a form to make your request

Fill out Form TR-320, Can't Afford to Pay Fine: Traffic and Other Infractions. Mail or take the form to the court. In some courts, you may be able to file this online, called e-filing. A judge will review your request and make a decision.

Either side can ask for a new court date

The judge will only give a new court date if there's a good reason. For example, if the plaintiff needs more time to serve the other side. Or, if the defendant needs more time to gather evidence.
